Pune|India|May' 2009: KPIT Cummins, a specialist solutions partner to global manufacturing corporations, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sinhgad Group of Engineering colleges, to promote academic excellence and faculty empowerment through research and mentoring initiatives. The MoU was signed by Ms. Renuka Krishna, Associate Vice President, Head Recruitment, KPIT Cummins and Prof. M.N. Navale, Founder President, Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES) at the college in the presence of Prof. M.G.Bhat, Director Engineering, STES. KPIT Cummins, a specialist solutions partner to global manufacturing corporations, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sinhgad Group of Engineering colleges, to promote academic excellence and faculty empowerment through research and mentoring initiatives. The MoU was signed by Ms. Renuka Krishna, Associate Vice President, Head Recruitment, KPIT Cummins and Prof. M.N. Navale, Founder President, Sinhgad Technical Education Society (STES) at the college in the presence of Prof. M.G.Bhat, Director Engineering, STES. This alliance is the fourth of its kind under KPIT Cummins’ strategic Industry-Academia initiative. The company would engage with the Sinhgad Group of Engineering Colleges to architect and mentor a strong student and faculty community, through workshops, faculty development programs, research projects and post graduate dissertations. Over 50 students from graduate and post graduate engineering courses will undertake research projects in Product Engineering and Business IT offered through Centre for Research in Engineering Sciences and Technology (CREST), the Research & Development unit of KPIT Cummins. Speaking about the research partnership Renuka Krishna said, “The future of India’s competitiveness depends on an educated workforce. This collaboration will create an opportunity for some of the best minds engaged in academia and at KPIT Cummins to come together to identify and create relevant solutions for the manufacturing and IT industry”. Prof. M.G. Bhat
added, “The MOU signed between Sinhgad Group of
Engineering Colleges and KPIT Cummins will
definitely go a long way in improving the quality of
engineering students graduating from our colleges,
and enhancing their acceptability in the industry.
This tie up has been strongly advocated and
supported firmly by Prof. M. N. Navale. According to
the MoU, this association will also help in updating
our faculties with latest technical developments in
industry.” |
